Bi2muno is a newly developed prebiotic. It is a ‘food’ source for the beneficial bacteria that are resident inside your colon or gut. It is not destroyed or digested in the stomach or the small intestine. It reaches the colon where it ‘feeds’ and ‘energises’ your ‘good’ bacteria.

Bi²muno is technically known as a transgalacto-oligosaccharide prebiotic. It is derived from lactose and by selectively ‘feeding’ your resident bacteria it provides a unique dual effect:

1. It promotes the growth of specific bacteria that boost and regulate your immune system (Bifidobacteria) and also reduces your levels of harmful bacteria.

2. It has been shown to demonstrate unique anti-adhesive properties which enable it to flush ‘harmful’ bacteria from your digestive system (based on laboratory research).

This anti-adhesive effect, although based on laboratory research, has created considerable interest amongst scientists and doctors involved in gut health and further major studies are underway to further research Bi²muno’s anti-adhesive properties amongst a wider range of harmful bacteria and gastrointestinal toxins.

Bi²muno is suitable for adults and children aged 3 years and over. Anyone who wants to manage their gut health and boost their levels of beneficial bacteria may benefit from Bi²muno.

In addition, if you belong to any of the groups of people below, you may find a prebiotic beneficial:

• Those who wish to manage their gastro-intestinal health

• People recovering from illness or surgery

• Sufferers of Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Irritable Bowel Syndrome

• Those suffering from constipation (particularly the elderly)

• Those suffering from gastric upsets and diarrhoea

• Patients taking antibiotics

• Those at risk of Travellers’ Diarrhoea

Dosage
The recommended servings are:

Adults: 5.5g or 1 sachet daily
Children 3 to 11 years of age: 2.75g or ½ sachet daily.

Does it work?
Bi²muno is the result of six years of intensive research conducted in collaboration with the University of Reading’s Food Microbial Sciences Unit and the IFR (Institute of Food Research) Norwich, both situated in the UK.

The research is headed by the Professor of Food Microbiology at the University of Reading, Professor Glenn Gibson. A highly regarded specialist in the field of prebiotics, Professor Gibson is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary research programme in gut microbiology, primarily related to the bacteriology of human health and disease.

This work was initially achieved using a laboratory model of the human colon in order to identify the most effective natural food for the beneficial bacteria of the gut. A number of clinical trials have been completed and others are underway.

We will report when more details are available.
