Mintec Peppermint Oil Capsules for the relief of discomfort, pain and distension associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Mintec relaxes spasm in the muscle of the bowel wall and helps restore normal bowel contractions. The resulting reduction in muscle cramps decreases the trapping of air and other bowel contents and relieves abdominal bloating, wind, discomfort and pain.

The capsules have a special coating so that they pass intact through the stomach and the first part of the bowel. This means that the peppermint oil is not released from the capsule until it reaches the problem area.

Mintec contains a naturally occurring oil extracted from the peppermint plant which is used to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Contents
Each Mintec Capsules contains 0.2 ml peppermint oil BP as the active ingredient.

The capsule shell is made from gelatin, glycerol, titanium dioxide and chlorophyll KK.

The capsule's enteric coating is made from hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose phthalate and dibutyl phthalate.

Dosage
The usual dose is one capsule three times a day, before meals.

Do not take the capsules immediately after food.

The capsules should be swallowed whole with a little liquid.
It is important not to break or chew them.

Does it work?
Most studies of orally administered peppermint oil demonstrate a substantial anti-spasmodic effect on the gut, especially when the peppermint oil is coated to allow transit through the acidic environment of the stomach.
