The Probion ® Tablet
The ProBion ® tablet represents a unique way of distributing probiotic cultures and prebiotic fibres. The tablet makes it possible to conduct regulated dissolution of the cultures in the gut, exposity and activating them properly in the right place and thereby achieving an optimal effect. The bacterial cultures in the tablets have an improved stability and viability as compared to other probiotic formulations. The low compression technique used when producing the ProBion® tablet is patented world-wide and is the result of many years of research.
The production technique
The ProBion ® tablet is produced according to a unique, patented low compression technique, which implies that less than 10% of the conventional compression forces are used. The low pressure ensures that the cultures remain viable during the production. The technique makes it possible to vary the time of dissolution. This greatly improves the ability to direct probiotic products to different areas of the intestinal tract.
The benefits of the ProBion ® tablet?
• maintained viability of the cultures
• optimal performance in the gastro-intestinal tract
• good stability of the cultures
• delivers viable probiotic cultures to the right place in the body
• makes it possible to regulate the time of dissolution
• contains inulin fibres that increase the beneficial effects of the probiotics
• protects the bacteria from the gastric- and bile acids
• makes it possible to use all kinds of probiotic strains
The tablet slowly dissolves during the passage through the stomach and the small intestine.
The bacteria are directly exposed to a large area of the digestive tract. This is unique for the ProBion® tablet as compared to other tablets, powders and capsules
Distribution of microorganisms in the ProBion® tablet
Study performed at The Swedish Institute for Food and Biothechnology in 1999. The goal of this study was to compare the bacterial content in the Probion® tablet with a reference tablet produced with normal compression forces. It is obvious that the bacteria in the ProBion® tablet are better preserved than bacteria in the reference tablet.
