Have the new GP guidelines had an impact yet?
As per our recent press release we are aware that GPs have recently been issued with new guidelines that allow them to positively diagnose IBS (rather than by a process of elmination), which we felt was a positive step. Some of the tests for other causes of IBS symptoms are very intrusive and we felt that this change would mean that IBS was given a more "legitimate" status with GPs etc. However we are aware that many sufferers are bothered that this means that GPs won't even try to find out the cause of the problem and dismiss us even more readily than they do now, with no further help, guidance or support. We would be interested to know what your experience is, what you think about this change and whether you think it is a good thing or not.

Think it may take time for
Think it may take time for GPs to actively start positively diagnosing IBS but think the NICE guidelines are a genuine step in the right direction.
